FILM: “Il Piccolo Diavolo” by R. Benigni. WInner of the David Award for Best Actor. Produced: 1998, Duration: 112′

Father Maurice (Maurizio – Walther Matthau), a priest living in a residential college for priests in Rome, is called out one day to “exorcise” the devil from someone. The devil turns out to be in the form of a fun-loving man called Giuditta (Judith – Roberto Benigni). What Father Maurice doesn’t know is that this type of devil will turn his life around.

FILM: “Come te nessuno mai”  by G. Muccino. Year of production: 1999. Duration: 88′. Italian Subtitles.

A comedy of love and politics about growing up in the shadow of the ’60s. For 16-year-old Silvio, being a part of his high school’s ‘counterculture’ movement has been reduced to selecting clothes that will mark him a slacker, a hippie, a goth, or a politico. And while Silvio’s school is being taken over by these protest-happy political renegades, all he can think about is how to get Valentina to kiss him in the storeroom and Claudia to fall in love with him.

Martedì 8 aprile gli studenti della scuola iscritti al progetto TANDEM – CONVERSATION EXCHANGE hanno partecipato al secondo appuntamento del semestre chiamato APERITANDEM organizzato allo student point della scuola. In questa occasione si sono incontrati con studenti italiani dell’università di Firenze gustando un aperitivo offerto dalla scuola. E’ stato come sempre un incontro piacevole fra studenti di culture e lingue diverse che approfittano di questo incontro per scambiarsi le loro esperienze di studio e di vita.

Il prossimo mese, martedì 6 maggio, avrà luogo l’ultimo incontro di questo semestre, Spring 2008, sempre allo student point alle 8:30 pm.

Nani Moretti directs himself playing himself in this wry look at life. Presented in three chapters, Moretti uses the experiences of travelling on his motor-scooter, cruising with his friend around a set of remote islands in search of peace to finish his new film and consulting doctor after doctor to cure his annoying rash to cast a humourous look at his life and those around him.

In 1930s Italy, a carefree Jewish book keeper named Guido starts a fairy tale life by courting and marrying a lovely woman from a nearby city. Guido and his wife have a son and live happily together until the occupation of Italy by German forces. In an attempt to hold his family together and help his son survive the horrors of a Jewish Concentration Camp, Guido imagines that the Holocaust is a game and that the grand prize for winning is a tank.

FILM: “Baci e Abbracci” by P. Virzi. Produced 1998, 105′ Duration.

A group of former factory workers, put out of work by economic recession in Northern Italy, decide to go into the ostrich farming business. Meanwhile, restauranteur Mario is suicidal after his wife leaves him and his business fails. Renato, leader of the ostrich farmers, is keen to entertain another Mario – a powerful regional councillor – who is dating his sister. But a mix up results in the wrong Mario coming to dinner, a mistake that is ultimately the best thing for both sides.

FILM: “Le Fate Ignoranti” by F. Ozpetek. Produced 2000, 105′ Duration

AIDS doctor Antonia’s husband is killed by a car. She gets depressed until she learns he had been cheating on her with a man. Following her newly born curiosity for life, she goes to see her husband’s lover, Michele, and finds a huge apartment that he shares with gay and transgendered friends, including a Turkish immigrant and a prostitute. Antonia is reluctant to tell these people of her relationship to the dead man, but needs prompting to move on to a new phase of her life.
